The BASF/Glasurit BokPot Challenge brought together customers for a unique blend of culinary creativity and camaraderie, and for Sam Gole, shareholder and spray painter at Elite Autobody, it represented his first venture into this type of competition.
The event was well-organized and provided plenty of fun for his team, but Sam approached it with the same determination that has defined his remarkable career journey.
"I believed that I was capable, if I put my mind to it to be successful," Sam reflects on his competition experience. For him, winning would have meant more than personal achievement – it would have secured bragging rights for Elite Autobody, adding another accolade to the company's reputation.
Sam's confidence in competition stems from a career built on overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities. His story with Elite Autobody began in 2011 when he joined the company founded by Wayne Masters in 1991 and based in Kya Sand since 1997. Starting as a cleaner, Sam's potential quickly became evident as he worked his way up from the wash bay to the paint shop.
Recognizing Sam's abilities, Wayne offered him an apprenticeship opportunity to become a spray painter. With BASF's support throughout his training, Sam qualified in 2017 with remarkable success, eventually becoming one of Elite Autobody's finest spray painters. His dedication was further rewarded in 2020 when he became a shareholder in the company, completing an inspiring nine-year journey from cleaner to co-owner.
As a long-standing BASF customer, Sam's enthusiasm for the products is evident in his work. His favourite is the clear coat that gives vehicles that brand-new appearance – a fitting choice for someone who has transformed his own career with the same attention to quality and finish.
Sam's participation in the BASF/Glasurit BokPot Challenge reflects the same spirit of determination and excellence that carried him from the company's cleaning staff to its boardroom, supported by BASF products and partnerships throughout his professional development.
